NCI History

National Calibration Inc. was established in 1962 as a department within one of our sister companies, Western Technologies Inc. The department was established to support Western Technologies with its engineering and materials testing laboratory and equipment.

The department went through many changes during these years and as the department and group changed through the years. In 1970, the Phoenix Non Destructive Testing group inherited the equipment and the responsibility for its maintenance. During this time, many current regulations were put into place which included scheduled calibration and testing equipment.

As the demand for services increased, a full-time calibration technician was justified and in that year, National Calibration Services was established. The company continued on this path with one or two employees and began to offer equipment sales to supplement the calibration activities. The major buyer of the equipment was Western Technologies. The management thought that National Calibration Inc. could become a viable company and was incorporated.

In 1985, National Calibration and another sister company, Enviro-Drill became separate entities and all three companies were put under the WTI, Inc. umbrella. In all, Western Technologies has 7 offices spread out in four states including Arizona, New Mexico, Utah and Nevada. Enviro-Drill has offices in New Mexico and Arizona.

Since 1992, National Calibration has grown from one office in Phoenix with five people employed and has grown to over thirty personnel with a presence in 5 different states. We were first accredited by A2LA in 1999 and have maintained its accreditation since that time.

National Calibration Inc. services a wide variety of clients out of their five locations which include offices in Arizona, New Mexico, Nevada, Utah and Texas. In addition to servicing the western United States, National Calibration Inc. provides services all around the continental United States and also provides services to Hawaii and Puerto Rico. Our accreditation allows us to provide services to foreign entities including Avianca Airlines of South American the Croatan Army as well as other parts of the globe.

National Calibration Inc. and our sister companies are known as: “The Quality People” and we have done our best to maintain and grow that aspect of our business. We do this by internal audits, being accredited through a series of audits by the American Association of Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA) and involvement through proficiency testing programs administered through the National Association for Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA).
